Brain surface
This amazing image shows the brain surface of a patient suffering with epilepsy.
The photograph was taken before an intracranial electrode recording procedure. It bagged Robert Ludlow of the UCL Institute of Neurology a Welcome Image Award back in 2012.
The Wellcome Image Awards are re-launching this year as the Wellcome Photography Prize. They are now accepting entries, and will be doing so until 17 December, with the winner announced in July 2019.
