Discovery Park unveils scheme to grow job opportunities 100% in a decade
Discovery Park plans to double the number of jobs it provides to around 7,000 over the next decade.
CEO Mayer Schreiber commented: “Already home to firms employing more than 3,500 people, we are confident that, thanks to our continued investment in the park including our new life sciences incubator building, we can attract more world class businesses."
The organisation recently staged an event involving representatives from Google, Huma, and SomX, as well as its ‘anchor tenant’ Pfizer, examining how techbio can enhance healthcare and academia.
It intends to create national centre of excellence for neuroscience, alongside life sciences, agri-tech and renewable energy technologies at the Sandwich, Kent site that ranks as one of the UK’s country’s largest science and innovation park.
Discovery Park is currently fitting out a multi-million pound life sciences incubator with 50,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space for start-ups and early-stage companies. The Government’s Getting Building Fund matched investment by Discovery Park with £2.5 million.
Said Schreiber: “I’m very excited by our plans for the future, working in partnership with tenants, local and national government. Within our existing building footprint, we have the space and infrastructure to double the number of jobs on site within the next 10 years.”
