A £60 million graphene research centre has been opened at the University of Manchester following funding from UK Research and Innovation. The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) will engage with engineers and SMEs with the aim of accelerating commercial impact of the material. Research England’s Executive Chair David Sweeney said it will also strengthen ties with industrial and academic partner organisations and help leverage considerable investment in UK R&D.
