Penguins can taste only sour and salty food

Findings published in Current Biology suggest penguins can taste only sour and salty food.

A team from University of Michigan, US, and Wuhan University, China, conducted a genomic study and found the birds lack functioning genes for the receptors of sweet, umami, and bitter tastes.
