This mesmerizing image was captured using polarized light, giving little droplets of solidified dopamine their beautiful colours. It was taken by Karl Gaff, who won the second prize in the Olympus Image of the Year competition back in 2018. You can still enter the 2019 competition - Deadline for entries is January 31, 2020. The winners will be announced in March, 2020. Anyone over the age of 18 can participate.
Winners will bag a CX43 microscope with DP27 digital camera, X Line objectives or an OM-D E-M5 Mark II camera.
