New issue out now with a Lab Innovations show special

The latest edition of Laboratory News brings fresh perspectives on imaging, analytical techniques, life sciences infrastructure and the design of reliable working environments and comes with the launch issue of our free Lab Innovations show special publication.
Issue 5 leads with Michael J Fanous and the possibilities of blur microscopy, exploring how controlled motion can turn an apparent imaging flaw into useful information. We also revisit the relationship between next-generation sequencing and capillary electrophoresis, with Promega’s Nikki Peake and Ellie Kirby examining the continuing role of CE in a changing analytical landscape.
Elsewhere, Professor Kay Davies discusses the challenges of building a UK life sciences ecosystem capable of supporting growth and translating scientific advances into practice.
Meanwhile, this issue’s The Knowledge section looks at the relationship between instrumentation, laboratory design and scientific performance.
In Core Lab, experts from US laboratory designer Hanbury explore how connectivity between instruments is increasingly influencing laboratory design, as equipment, data and workflows become more closely linked.
In Fit-out, Professor Brian J Ford considers how laboratory design can determine scientific success, examining the environment in which research takes place and the conditions that support effective work.
Together, these contributions look beyond individual technologies to consider how imaging methods, analytical choices, infrastructure and laboratory environments shape scientific outcomes.
Also available, our free Laboratory News Lab Innovations Show Special provides original content for visitors to the exhibition and conference. This includes contributions from key speakers and exhibitors, a focus on the main themes and a a guided tour of the hall with a selection of stand and talk highlights.
