The Olympus Image of the Year Award 2018 is open for entries. Upload your images by the end of October and you could be in with a chance of winning three incredible Olympus prizes.
This image won second prize for Dr David Maitland in the 2017 competition. His phase contrast image of a glass sponge is not only really interesting, but also extraordinarily beautiful. It shows Glass spicules which come in all shapes and sizes and give sponges shape and protection against predators.
