Oxford Science Park expansion approved

Oxford Science Park will see more than 5,000sq m of additional office space after the Council approved its latest planning application.
Construction will begin early this year and should provide an additional 500 jobs at the Park. Currently there are more than 2,400 people employed at the Science Park, situated in Littlemore.
Littlemore parish councillor David Henwood, who voted to approve the plans, told the Oxford Mail: “It is a very good thing. One of the conditions placed upon the application was for it to pay, once it is complete, for five years of funding either for additional bus routes or other forms of transport. People in Littlemore may well benefit from that.”
The expansion will take place at Plot 12 on the site, with the new building having a roof terrace. It was the first building that was submitted for planning after being taken over wholly by Magdalen College in January 2016. It will have four storeys and is available either for a single tenant or multi-let with two tenancies per floor.
Pier Scrimshaw-Wright, manging director at the Park said: “Our proposal was to speculatively build efficient and flexible, energy efficient accommodation that supports high value business growth and the local economy. The development will aid the rich commercial ecosystem prevalent across the Park.”
Magdalen College’s development plans include an additional 300,000 plus sq ft of office and laboratory space to be built over the next five to seven years.
