Small R & D companies can receive up to six months free use of a self-contained laboratory, complete with specialist support and business advice.
The Innovations Technology Access Centre (I-TAC) part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is offering this prize to businesses less than five years old that employ less than 250 staff.
Michael Norris, Head of Business Innovation at the STFC, said: “Companies can benefit massively from access to I-TAC’s facilities. Each prize-winner will be supported all the way by STFC staff to ensure that they get the most out of their time here.
“Winning the competition could mean the difference between being a start-up company with an idea that has the potential to help address some of society’s key challenges, to one that really can make a difference.”
The runner up and third place prizes are three months and one month’s access to the I-TAC, respectively.
Entrants can be in the healthcare/life sciences, chemical, energy and environment, advanced materials, pharmaceutical and food technology sectors. Those who enter must be able to show they are undertaking a R & D project and have a need for the facilities at I-TAC.
The deadline is 5pm, Friday March 18th 2016.
