An Oxford base genome analytics company – Genomics Limited – has been awarded £2 million after winning a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition.
The competition – Enabling Technologies for Genomics Sequence Data Analysis and Interpretation, run by Genomics England – set out to find technological innovations that could enhance genomic sequence data analysis.
It is intended to support the progress of new commercial products that can advance the science of diagnostics based on genomic screening. “We are delighted to be working with Genomics England through the SBRI and by their endorsement of the potential of our genome analysis platform,” said Chief Executive Officer of Genomics Limited, John Colenutt.
Genomics Limited – a spin out company from the University of Oxford – has developed an analytical platform for genomic sequence data analysis and interpretation. This is combined with expertise in the analysis and data research of large genomic databases.
“Genome sequence data can potentially transform healthcare, and the UK is playing a leading role in this process. Our aim is to use our expertise to develop best-in-class tools for clinical genome interpretation and variant calling, and this award will accelerate our product deployment,” said Professors Peter Donnelly, founder of the company.
