Keep your eyes peeled as the ISS speeds over head this weekend |
The best time to view the ISS from the UK will be on Saturday 17th at 00:40hrs, and will appear from a south westerly direction at an elevation of 10°. However, you’ll have to be quick if you want to snap a picture as it will only be visible for 6 minutes before it slips over the horizon. Don’t despair if you do miss it though, it will appear another seven times over the weekend. Click here to see all the viewing times.
The ISS passes over most points on Earth every day, but is usually invisible. But for two short periods in June and December each year, the ISS doesn't pass through Earth's shadow meaning that its passes are visible through the night if the sky is clear.
If you do manage to snap a good image then be sure to send it to contactesa@esa.int and you could see it published on the European Space Agency website.
