Laboratory News forum 2006 hits the mark

A wise scientist once said that an exhibition is only as good as the prizes that are given out. Sage words indeed, and in that case the Laboratory News Forum 2006 can be considered an absolute smash hit!
A wise scientist once said that an exhibition is only as good as the prizes that are given out. Sage words indeed, and in that case the Laboratory News Forum 2006 can be considered an absolute smash hit!
Delegates to this years Forum not only had a great chance to brush up on skills and see cutting edge technology, but also to walk away with many prizes.
From the obligatory free pens to a new twenty-six inch flat screen LCD TV - and of-course many bottles of champagne in between - the prizes and give-a-ways kept flowing at this year’s event.
The Forum gave many the chance to brush
up on vital skills.
However, as good as the prizes were, they of-course mean nothing without first class exhibitors, comprehensive short courses, incisive workshops and a fascinating keynote speech. On that front too the Forum was a success, providing something for every aspect of laboratory life.
Indeed the Forum provided a perfect start to another year of discovery and innovation. With short courses ranging from Microbiology for Non-Microbiologists to Laboratory Leadership skills, and all the movers and shakers in the industry exhibiting, we hope that the event gave everybody the kick-start to the year that they needed!
The lucky winner of the flat screen TV certainly had a good event. After showing fantastic form on the downhill ski challenge machine, Jonathan Purdy was announced the winner by game sponsors Beckman Coulter.
“Actually I’m not a skier” said Purdy, a QC laboratory supervisor from Torbay Hospital. “I’ve never been on one of those machines before, it must be beginners luck!”
Congratulations Jonathan! And also a big thanks from all at Laboratory News to all those who attended this years Forum.
