This shot was taken in May 2018 at the Dean’s Blue Hole on Long Island in the Bahamas. It shows PhD student Lucas Vimpere in the field working on the data for his thesis on the stratigraphy and evolution of the island over the last 130,000 years. Dean’s Blue hole, a karstic feature 202m deep, represents a unique way to access to the succession of carbonate rocks deposited during the Quaternary now forming the core of this tropical island.?
