Scientific glass
7 Oct 2019
Turi King made the finalists list of The Royal Photographic Society’s Science Photographer of the Year competition for this image of the results of a University of Leicester collaboration between a geneticist, the glassblower and artists.
The University is home to one of the few scientific glassblowers still practicing. Differences in our genetic makeup are what make us unique, while all arising from the same basic form. The project used scientific glass to examine evolution, mutation and diversity, mirroring the myriad of different forms that life takes today.
