Lab Innovations: back at Birmingham NEC for 2022
17 Oct 2022
Lab Innovations is back once again at the NEC with a panoramic mix of exhibits, seminars and sessions plus an unrivalled networking platform...
Lab Innovations, the UK’s largest trade exhibition for the laboratory industry, will bring together the industry’s leading professionals, scientists, researchers and more to drive innovation and sustainability.
This year’s show, taking place at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham from 2-3 November, is the tenth Lab Innovations show and will feature special celebrations, providing visitors with extra networking opportunities. You can register now to secure your tickets for the show on the Lab Innovations website. Last year, Lab Innovations brought together the lab community for the first time in almost two years. This year’s event will build on that success, providing an opportunity for the entire industry to come together to do business face-to-face once again.
The show floor hosts innovations from more than 160 leading scientific suppliers and manufacturers showcasing the latest laboratory developments and equipment. Exhibitors present the most cutting-edge technology applicable to a plethora of industries including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, academia, healthcare, food and drink, chemical, cleanroom and more.

There are already many exhibitors confirmed for the event, such as Avantor, Beckman Coulter, Cole-Palmer, IKA, Randox, Shimadzu and Scientific Laboratory Supplies, with more leading names and brands to follow.
At Lab Innovations 2022, visitors can discover the latest tools and services, source a range of products and gain insight into data-driven case studies, such as those from Green Light Laboratories, demonstrating the impact of sustainable initiatives in laboratory environments.
“Lab Innovations is a great opportunity for end users to see how our equipment works in a real laboratory environment and how the data we’ve collected can be replicated in their own labs to help them to be more sustainable,” explains Andy Evans, director at Green Light Labs and host of Lab Innovations’ Sustainable Laboratory.

This year’s Sustainable Laboratory will be bigger than ever, showcasing equipment and processes used to enhance a lab’s sustainability and efficiency. With a focus on carbon and carbon equivalent emissions, visitors can learn from case studies and audits via a series of leading UK labs.
Attendees at the show can take advantage of more than 40 hours of CPD educations and earn CPD points from four free-to-attend theatre programmes – the Royal Society of Chemistry Theatre, the Insights & Innovation Theatre, the Cleanroom Hub and Live Lab.
My Green Lab is sponsoring the Insights & Innovation Theatre (curated with Laboratory News) at this year’s show, for which the theme will focus on sustainability in the lab and through the supply chain.
My Green Lab CEO James Connelly opens the two day sessions which will feature, among others, speakers from Schneider Electric, Pfizer, UKAS, NUI Galway, the Chemical Business Association, Fisher Scientific, Mettler-Toledo Rainin and QIAGEN.
Last year, visitors could attend keynote talks by Timandra Harkness, science writer, broadcaster and comedian, and Mark Miodownik, professor of materials and society and director of institute of making at University College London. Check out the Lab Innovations website for more information about this year’s keynote speakers.
Last year marked a successful return for Lab Innovations after the pandemic caused the 2020 event to be postponed. Attendee Andy Worsick of EMS Solutions, commented then: “Exhibitions have been at the forefront of getting out and seeing the right people for your business, and Lab Innovations is one of the best I’ve seen.”
Just as important, the 2022 event reinforces the return to year-on-year continuity. Lab Innovations 2022 will also feature the Lab Awards event, presented on the afternoon of 2 November by Lab Innovations, in partnership with Laboratory News.
It will celebrate the key achievements of the laboratory industry, with awards covering Innovation, Sustainability, Collaboration and Inclusion. With leading figures and brands in the industry set to attend, Lab Awards is an event not to be missed.
Once again, the show will be co-located with Advanced Engineering, which is supported by key industry associations such as ADS Group, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Composites UK, Make UK and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
This helps to promote cross-sector collaboration and continued innovation by the UK’s leading laboratory and engineering industries.
“As this is the ten year anniversary of Lab Innovations, we are really excited to show you what we have in store for this year,” adds Alison Willis, Director at Easyfairs, the organiser of Lab Innovations.
“As we get closer to the show, you can expect to see regular updates regarding the Lab Awards, special guests and other exciting features on our website. Whether you are looking to update your lab equipment or want to learn about the latest innovations in the lab industry, Lab Innovations is an event you can’t miss.”
Lab Innovations 2022 is set to be the best show yet as it celebrates its first decade and it certainly isn’t an event to be missed for anyone in the laboratory community.
