Dedicated biomedical start-up office at LSP

SPARK Impact has teamed up with Liverpool Science Park (LSP) to launch an office dedicated to start-up businesses in the biomedical sector. The office is the latest in a series of moves by LSP to position itself as a hotbed for technology start-ups based in Merseyside. Three companies have already signed up; Albert Medical Devices (AMD), a urology device business; Wesco Medical Holdings who produce nasogastric feeding tube devices; and Med ePad, a telemedical company.
All three have recently received Pathfinder and follow-on investments from The North West Fund for Biomedical, which is managed by SPARK Impact.
“We have invested in a range of companies with strong potential,” said Dr Penny Attridge, senior investment director at SPARK Impact. “Our latest idea for the biomedical cluster office is something SPARK Impact felt would be of great benefit to both the investee companies and Liverpool Science Park.”
