Prestige Medical wasn’t always a leading expert in infection control devices, the distributing company started off with cookware and pressure cookers in 1938. The World Health Organisation (WHO) sent out a tender for a unit to sterilise reusable needles for their projects in Africa and the developing world.
Our founding owner saw that and demonstrated the stove top pressure vessel. It could be heated by a campfire and was robust and easy to use. They immediately ordered 10,000 units. And that’s what put Prestige Medical on the map when it came to sterilisation.
This has evolved over the years by adding a powered heating element, set timers and temperatures. The lid is incredibly well engineered to include several safety features, as well as being self-locking under pressure. Today, Prestige Medical now has four models to fulfil needs within the lab, dental, vet and podiatry users, tailored to their needs, whilst remaining easy to use, and portable.
We have also expanded into the autoclave benchtop marketing for infection control, models range from 19 and 22 Litres, primarily for dental clinics. In 2022 Prestige Medical was purchased by a global infection control manufacturer, Tuttnauer Ltd. The portfolio only expanded from there with a mix in washer disinfectors, consumables and premium autoclaves. Now with the Tuttnauer product range, we are the only company able to supply units from nine litre through to 10,000 litre devices to meet the needs of all medical, dental and laboratory clinics.
