BioGrad announces national expansion with opening of York site
22 Sep 2024
Laboratory testing specialist BioGrad Group has announced plans for a major site in York – the fifth site it will have established across Britain since 2022.
CEO Dr Natalie Kenny said: “Our expansion into York represents an exciting new era for BioGrad as we expand our reach across the UK. “
The group will invest in excess of £3 million over three years for a new research and teaching site, cementing the company’s position in science and healthcare, regenerative medicine and clinical research.
BioGrad Group has already expanded services to four other new locations between 2022-2024 including laboratories in Birmingham, Newcastle, London and a purpose-built clinical research facility and new company headquarters at Wavertree Technology Park in Liverpool. It is also seeking to expand its total headcount to 150 across the BioGrad Group.
Its move into York is driven by the city’s academic strengths and university collaboration potential, integration with NHS trusts across Yorkshire, and the support from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
This location will serve as a base for innovative research and a nationwide clinical trial led by the York research team, expected to be announced early in 2025.
Attending the event, mayor of York and North Yorkshire David Skaith said:
“It is great to see laboratory testing specialist BioGrad move into York with an investment of more than £3 million over the next three years. This investment will enable BioGrad to open a new research and teaching site and create high quality, skilled jobs in a high growth sector.
“The demographic of our population, along with our excellent and growing number of research centres as well as our world-leading universities, we know we can be a major player in global healthcare and continue to go beyond expectation.”
