Applications are invited for a recently debuted Master’s programme in circular economy chemistry and analytics, claimed to be the first of its kind worldwide.
CACE, the Finnish University of Jyväskylä’s Chemistry and Analytics for Circular Economy English language master’s degree, is a multidisciplinary programme, majoring in chemistry but combining elements of biology, environmental science, mathematics and statistics, together with economics and business.
“The new degree programme provides students with important skills that help to solve problems that threaten society and the environment,” said course leader, assistant professor Kaisa Helttunen.
The university claims the composition of the course makes it “internationally unique”, encompassing raw material recovery and upcycling for metals and bio-based materials, as well as focussing on organic and inorganic analysis with relevant instrumental techniques.
In August, the first 30 students began the new course, with instructions now available for the next application round taking place in January.
“The programme gives students a chance to combine different disciplines,” continued Helttunen.
“They can choose courses in business and economics, environmental management, statistics and data analysis based on their own interests. From the available courses, the students select a study module of either business and economics or statistics for their studies.”
